For the Vancouver International Women in Film Festival, T. Nicole Holland interviews Donna Davies about her 2015 documentary, Fanarchy.
(Halifax, NS) July 1, 2015 – Whether it’s a shot-by-shot remake of Raiders of the Lost Ark (made by a group of kids), one woman’s effort to put her own stamp on her favorite superhero, or a devotee’s shockingly accurate continuation of the Star Trek series, fans are no longer passive viewers but – with affordable technology at their fingertips – are actively producing the kind of content they want to watch.
Fanarchy, a new feature documentary by Donna Davies, exposes this burgeoning landscape and the issues that potentially complicate it – copyright, intellectual property and the concept of originality in a remix culture.
Fanarchy makes its world premiere Thursday, July 9 – timed perfectly to coincide with that hotbed of fandom, San Diego Comic Con.Read More»

Comic-Con is going to be the first of three U.S. film trips we have planned for this feature. Fanarchists delves into the world of amateur-made films that play in the shadow of Hollywood’s greatest creations. We’ll be interviewing some of Hollywood’s most obsessed fan boys and girls…
We’ll be sharing production stills throughout the trip so stay tuned and remember to like us on Facebook and follow us on twitter!
That’s right, folks, Nightmare Factory will be screening at Comic–Con this year! The even better news? The team is going to be at Comic-Con for the screening! Nightmare Factory screens on Saturday July 20th, at 6:50pm at Marriott Hall 2, Marriott Marquis and Marina. Head over to the Comic-Con International Independent Film Festival website to see the full schedule. We hope to see you there!
